Guitar BCN Festival 

When? February to July, 2015.

Where? Various venues

What? Barcelona hosts a prestigious guitar-based music festival which attracts world-class artists. This year the confirmed artists are James Vincent McMorrow, Jolie Holland, Franco Battiato and The Jayhawks. This is an event for everyone who enjoys guitar music.

Expo Sports Barcelona 

When? 13th - 14th March, 2015 from 10:00h to 20:00h 

Where? Fira Montjuic exhibition, Pavilion 8.

What?  During the Marathon weekend Barcelona hosts the Expo Sports, one of the most important fairs of running in Europe. The Expo Sports 2014 had 170 exhibitors and about 60.000 visitors in the two days of opening. This year there will be 200 exhibitors with more than 60.000 expected visitors.

 Maratón de Barcelona 

When?  March 15th, 2015

Where? All over Barcelona

What? Barcelona will host the 37th edition of the Zurich Marathon. It starts at 8.30 am in Maria Cristina Avenue and it ends in the same street after 6 hours. The participants will pass by some of the major attractions of Barcelona, such as Plaza de España, Camp Nou, Casa Milà or the famous Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Calatrava Bridge and the Arc of Triumph.

  • 61, 50 € until 10.000 participants;
  • 73,00 € from 10.001 to 17.000 participants;
  • 84,00 € from 17.001 participants

Barcelona Beer Festival 

When? 13th- 15th March, 2015

Where? Sala Marqués Comillas del Museu Marítim de Barcelona

What?  In April Barcelona will host the fourth edition of the “Barcelona Beer Festival”, an event which takes place in the building of the Drassanes Reials (Royal Shipyards). Here you can find over 300 different kinds of craft beer. Apart from Catalan and Spanish beers you’ll have the possibility to try different sorts from over 70 international brewers. Your beer will be accompanied by quality food such as tapas, cheeses or crepes. For everyone that enjoys their beer without alcohol, there will be also non-alcoholic options and even gluten-free variants. Make sure you bring enough cash with you, since you have to change it into tokens to be able to buy things at the festival.  In the Festival you can pay only with the coins that you can purchase in the sell points. Moreover, every year there is an original glass designed only for this event.

Saló Internacional del Còmic 

When? 16th – 19th April, 2015

Where? Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc

What? Barcelona will host the 33nd International Comic Fair for four days in the hill of Montjuic. The venue of the event will feature approximately 36,000 m2 and the access is by Avenida Reina Maria Cristina. These are days of exhibitions and creative activities which every comic and graphic lover shouldn’t miss! Check out the timetable:

  • Thursday April 16th and Sunday 19th April: from 10:00 to 20:00h.
  • Friday April 17th and Saturday April 18th: from 10:00 to 21:00h.

Sant Jordi

What? Every 23rd of April Barcelona celebrates the day of Sant Jordi, a true expression of Catalonia’s romantic side. The roots are in the myth surrounding Sant Jordi, who fights against a dragon to rescue a princess. It’s said that a rose blossomed from the creature’s blood. Nowadays women receive a red rose as a symbol of this legend and men a book. On this day, which has a way bigger importance to the Catalan than Sant Valentine’s Day, you’ll find the main streets of the city floated with stands selling roses and books. Don’t miss out on this beautiful tradition!

Dia de Sant Jordi Barcelona

Festival Internacional de Cinema d’Autor 

When? 24th April – 3rd May, 2015

Where? Cines Aribau Club (Salas 1 and 2); Filmoteca de Catalunya; CCCB; SGAE Catalunya

What? The 5th Barcelona International Auteur Film Festival will take place from April 24th to May 3rd 2015. This is an opportunity you shouldn’t miss to see movies that otherwise you would have missed. It combines international established directors with emerging new talents. The Festival offers you the chance to see more than 60 films in four different cinemas around the city.

Feria BioCultura- The International Fair of Organic Products and Responsible Consumption

When? 7th – 10th May; opening hours: 10:00 – 20:00

Where? Palau Sant Jordi

What? This is the most important fair about organic products in Spain and it is demonstrated by the huge number of visitors (this year is expected a number greater than 80.000) and of exhibitors (around 700). The products exposed by the different exhibitors range from cosmetics ones to toys and also to books.

Barcelona Poesia & Festival Internacional de Poesia 

When? 12th – 18th May, 2015

Where? All over Barcelona

What? The International Festival of Poetry is an event organized by the Government of Barcelona which takes place every year in the middle of May. This is a week of poetry in Catalan and includes readings and prizes. This Festival started in 1859 as a vehicle useful to promote the Catalan language.

Dia Internacional dels Museus 

When? 18th May, 2015

What? The International Day of Museums takes place every year since 1977. It consists in a day of free museum entrance. Every year new cities are joining this event. In 2014, more than 35,000 museums participated in the event in over 140 countries from all continents. Here are Barcelona’s most famous museums:

La Nit dels Museus 

When?  17th May; opening hours: 19:00 – 1:00

Where? All over Barcelona

What? La Nit dels Museus is a new initiative which consists in a free entrance on the previous night of the International Day of Museums. It is promoted by the Council of Europe. In total 3,000 museums participate to this initiative.

Primavera Sound 

When? 28th – 30th May, 2015

Where? Parc del Fòrum

What? The Primavera Sound Festival is one of the best music events in Spain. The first edition of the festival took place on 28 April 2001. It lasts three days and the music genres range from native to electronic, indie, pop, hip hop, dance, folk, jazz, metal, and experimental. Among the artists that will perform we find: The Black Keys, Alt-J, Belle & Sebastian, James Blake, The Strokes and Ride.
