You can’t visit Barcelona without paying a visit to Las Ramblas. Located between the Gothic Quarter and the Raval , this is the most famous avenue of Barcelona. It’s characterised for being a 1,2 km-long promenade that goes from Plaça Catalunya to the port, and that is covered by trees.

    Did you know that you will be able to feel like the locals just by walking down Las Ramblas? Mimes, human figures and painters will surprise you every step of the way, since this is the main peculiarity of this avenue: improvised shows outdoors to entertain the visitors. But be careful, since Las Ramblas are the main working pickpocketing area in town.
  • Due to its central location and the crowds of tourists that populate it, Las Ramblas are a promenade where you can find lots of bars, shops and museums in most of the buildings.

    However, in the adjacent areas to the apartments near Las Ramblas, in the Gothic Quarter and the Raval, you will find some tranquillity. However, these are neighbourhoods very densely populated. There are all sorts of neighbours: young locals or foreigners. But most of them won’t stay there permanently, since they are pedestrian areas and aren’t comfortable to access by car.

    The Mercat de la Boqueria (also known as Mercat de Sant Josep) is the biggest market in Catalonia, with a surface of more than 2.000 square metres and about 300 stalls that will delight all visitors.

    It is the most visited market of Catalonia. There, you will find all sort of fresh produce in the more than 300 stalls. The market has a long tradition, since it was inaugurated by the end of the 19th century. Since then, it has been one of the most important commercial areas in the neighbourhoods of Ciutat Vella and the Gothic Quarter.
  • Las Ramblas are a pedestrian area, mostly, so the only transportation you will be able to use are your own feet. Access to private cars is forbidden some times of the day, so it won’t be comfortable for you to rent a vehicle.

    If you want to go to other parts of the city, you can take the metro that stops there. Line 3 (green), with the stops Liceu, Catalunya and Drassanes.

    Very close to this avenue, we recommend you to visit several museums, like the Wax Museum or the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, as well as the Plaça del Pi.

    Wax Museum
    Barcelona’s Wax Museum counts with a great collection of wax reproductions of famous or fictional characters. Besides, it has a privileged location since it is right at the end of Las Ramblas, next to the viewpoint in the Columbus Monument.

    With more than 300 wax statues, the museum is enriched with projections and impressive sound effects. Here, you will be able to meet Marilyn Monroe, Superman, Lola Flores or Julia Roberts.

    Maritime Museum
    The Maritime Museum of Barcelona is located next to the Port Vell, in the royal arsenal dedicated to shipbuilding of Barcelona. There, you will be able to see reproductions of ships and objects of the marine from different times. Besides, you will also be able to see the Pailebote de Santa Eulalia, located in the Moll de la Fusta. It is a historical sailing boat typical from the Mediterranean Sea that dates back to 1919.

    Santa María del Pi
    In one of the most famous plazas of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona you will find the basilica of Santa Maria del Pi (Saint Mary of the Pine Tree). This church is just one street away from Las Ramblas, and is located in a quiet and bohemian atmosphere, full of artists that gather there.
  • La Pineda, Carrer del Pi, 16
    If you want to get to know one of the most unique neighbourhoods of Barcelona, you need to visit the Charcuteria La Pineda. Open since 1930, it is a restaurant that respects the architectural style that had when it was inaugurated almost a century ago.

    Here you will find a small restaurant with typical and unique dishes: tapas, wines and delicatessen that will delight anybody who visits it.

    Flax&Kale, Carrer Tallers, 74
    If you’re passionate about ecologic food, gluten-free dishes and lactose-free flavours, this is the place for you. Very close to Las Ramblas, you will find this recently inaugurated restaurant that offers healthy foods with natural produce free of preservatives.

    Luzía, Carrer Pintor Fortuny, 1
    If you want to experience new gastronomic horizons, you can do so in the restaurant Luzía, where the basics are dishes to share. You will find meats, pizzas and sandwiches.
  • Las Ramblas are one of the busiest places of the nights of Barcelona! Here, you will find lots of bars, clubs and pubs where to have a fun evening with your friends.

    You can go to Plaça Reial, located off Las Ramblas. In this plaza, you will find several clubs with underground music, like Sidecar, or clubs with live jazz, like Jamboree.

    Finally, you can also go right at the end of Las Ramblas, close to the Columbus Monument, and then go into the neighbourhood of the Raval, where you will find a club called Enfants that specialises in salsa and the latest hits.
