    The Palau de la Musica was designed by Catalan architect Lluís Domènech i Muntaner, and was built between 1905 and 1908. It counts with an amphitheatre and a spectacular stained glass window in the ceiling, and a little room where camera music concerts are celebrated and which is called the Petit Palau (the Little Palace). Nowadays, it’s located in the neighbourhood of La Ribera of Barcelona, a few steps from El Born and Plaça Urquinaona.

    The most famous avenue of Barcelona is Passeig de Gràcia, since it hosts the most spectacular architectural works by Gaudí: La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. Besides, there are other pieces of Catalan Modernisme, such as Casa Amatller and Casa de les Punxes.
    The boulevard is 5 km long and it consolidated at the beginning of the 20th century as an exclusive place for Catalan bourgeoisie. This is why the façades are so elegant and there was such an investment in the architecture of Modernisme. An elegance that is maintained nowadays thanks to the boutiques of Passeig de Gràcia, by high-fashion brands such as Bottega Veneta, Valentino or Dolce-Gabbana.
  • The Palau de la Musica Catalan is located in a pedestrian neighbourhood, so you will only be able to move around by foot during your stay in the apartments near Palau de la Musica.

    However, if you move around the big avenues near Palau de la Musica, like Via Laietana or Carrer Trafalgar (close to Plaza Urquinaona), you will be able to move around by car or metro. You can get from here to other parts of the city thanks to metro station Urquinaona (L1 and L4, red and yellow, respectively).

    A few steps from the Palau de la Musica Catalana, you will be able to visit the Barcelona Cathedral, located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.
    The Cathedral is one of the religious symbols of the city, together with the Sagrada Familia, and it is located in a great plaza from where you’ll be able to enjoy a wonderful view of this magnificent building.
    The Cathedral was built in the 14th century and it is dedicated to Saint Eulalia. Its particularity is its Cloisters, the home of 13 gooses.

    Plaça Ramon Berenguer
    Plaça Ramon Berenguer is a space where history and architecture convey, thanks to an important fact: the remains of the old Roman wall of the city are next to what was later built in the 14th as the Santa Ágata Chapel.
    Plaça Ramon Berenguer is located in one of the busiest streets of Barcelona: Via Laietana. It’s crowned by a great equestrian sculpture of Ramon Berenguer, who gave name to the square and who was the Count of Barcelona during the 11th century. If you pay attention, you will see that the statue is not well proportioned: the tail of the horse is too big, because it was added later during its remodelling.
  • La Rosa Negra, Via Laietana, 46
    La Rosa Negra is a peculiar restaurant-bar located in Via Laietana, just 5 minutes away from the Palau de la Musica.

    The restaurant offers Mexican food and puts special care in milkshakes and appetizers. If you decide to go to this restaurant, we recommend to try the cocktails they prepare for only 3,50€ at any time of the day.

    Cuines Santa Caterina, Avinguda Francesc Cambó, 16
    In the Mercat de Santa Caterina, a market next to the Barcelona Cathedral, you will find the restaurant Cuines Santa Caterina, a space of creative and Catalan cuisine that always has a lot of visitors. The atmosphere in the restaurant is quite peculiar, thanks to the combination between bars and tables in a very dynamic space.
