Located in the south-east of Prague this district is made up of both residential and industrial areas. It was formerly a group of villages in the outskirts that was annexed to the main city in more recent times. It is currently an integral part of the city with good connections with the centre through its different public transport systems (metro line A and several tram lines). The area of Vrsovice, originally a small town, was founded in the XI century and was added to the city in 1902. Today the area has its own shopping centre the Eden and the Synot Tip Arena considered the most modern stadium in the Czech Republic. Built in 1950 it was restored several times over the following years and after being demolished in 2003 was reopened three years later. The complex includes a number of different facilities including a hotel as well as hosting football matches, concerts and a number of different events. The main centre of the area is the neighbourhood of Strasnice that was a rural village until the beginning of the XX century when it was swallowed up by the city of Prague. The area is not home to many historical buildings but there are several houses dating back to the beginning of the XX century and a farm in ruins. Currently the area is characterized by its administrative and industrial buildings, gardens and the peripheral areas of waste land. The area is also the site of the Strasnické Divadlo Theatre, a non-profitable organization created in 2004 as a unique experimental fusion based on different techniques and shows with both European and Asian roots. The aim of the organization is to offer a multi-cultural and creative venue as well as providing a meeting point for different artists. Visitors can also enjoy the different projections that are organized during the film season also held here. Near to Prague 10 there is another area, Zahradní Mesto, known as a garden city and formed by a series of family terraced houses and apartment blocks alternated with areas of parkland. To the west and bordering the district of Prague 4, there is also a residential area where visitors can stroll through the tree-lined streets and visit the evangelical church of the Czech brothers a Presbyterian Church founded in 1918.
