Why stay: a very peaceful district, few inhabitants, ideal to relax.
This district is located in the north-east of Prague on the border of the Prague 8 district; a peripheral area with low population density. Despite being a little far from the centre it has good transport connections with two metro lines crossing the neighborhood and heading to the centre (lines B and C). The area has a number of tourist attractions for both shopping and sports. Heading along Ceskomoravska street leads to the 02 Stadium Arena, built in 2004 for the World Ice Hockey championships and currently a multi-functional pavilion that hosts concerts and sporting events. Nearby is one of the most famous shopping centres in Prague the Galerie Harfa, an important three-floor structure home to numerous shops, restaurants and supermarkets where visitors can spend the whole day without running out of things to do and see. For sports fans and those looking for something a little different we recommend a visit to Bobová Draha Prosek: a large bobsleigh run for outdoor practice. A pleasant stroll to the north of the district leads to the monumental metro stop on line C Strizkov which was officially opened in May 2008 and designed by architect Patrik Kotas. It is a glass structure described as some to be shaped as a drop of water or a whale (according to different interpretations). The eastern part of the Vysocany district is home to the PVA Letnany Exhibition Centre and the Aviation Museum. The PVA Letnany is a large commercial exhibition centre with a huge open-air area that for the last four years has hosted a number of events including the Prague beer festival where visitors can try a number of different types of Czech beer and typical cuisine. The Aviation Museum is very close, founded in 1968 it was the former Kbely military airport with a fleet of 275 planes, many of which are quite unique in the world. As well as the exhibition the museum also organizes conferences and seminars.
